The definition of Thanksgiving: ~noun~ the act of giving thanks; grateful acknowledgment of benefits or favors, especially to God.
Yep, we have had an early thanksgiving. The way that Mattie tells the story is that Mom and Dad went to Memphis for a fun weekend and were hanging out at the hospital where all the babies are. Someone told us that this cute little boy needed a family and thought that we would be perfect for him. And that is how Zeke Allen McQuivey came to be part of our family.
She has the most important details correct! Here is some more of the story. The phone call came on the night of the 10th of November. Zeke was born on the 9th and weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz.. He was struggling just a little bit and was admitted into the NICU. After we heard all of the information, our adoption agency told us we had until the morning to make a decision, and if we said yes we would fly out on Friday to stay an indefinite amount of time. We had a criteria that we had submitted to our agency and all the circumstances didn't fit our adoption plan- but she sent his picture, and that was that. We knew that he was ours.
Once we got there, he was out of the NICU and released from the hospital on the 15th of November. I thought that I would be staying for the week and Troy would fly home and tell the kids the cool souvenir that I would be bringing home - but we had record clearance, and I got to go home with Troy. The kids did think that he was a cool souvenir.
